This disclosure is directed to an improved ballistic concrete mixture which is operable to be cast in many forms such as blocks. The improved ballistic concrete mixture provides an effective barrier for stopping projectiles with a kinetic energy of between about 1.0 kJ (750 foot-pounds) and 20.3 kJ (15,000 foot-pounds) in between about 3 inches and 10 inches such as a fifty-caliber round. The improved ballistic concrete mixture is useful in the erecting of new structures which need ballistics protection or for retrofitting existing structures with ballistics protection.

A containment assembly comprises a first enclosure comprising a cavity for receiving a hazardous object. The first enclosure is configured for containing an explosive event of the hazardous object. A second enclosure comprises a gas impermeable layer, an inner volume, and an air-tight closure. The second enclosure is configured for receiving and containing a gas byproduct of the explosive event from the first enclosure. A gas permeable barrier is disposed between the cavity of the first enclosure and the inner volume of the second enclosure. A smart insulation arrangement may be implemented on the lower side of the first enclosure to allow the event to happen and to cool down over a longer period of time without exceeding maximum allowable temperatures on the outside of the second enclosure. This permits the flight or journey to continue.

A rifle has a body, a magazine slot, a handle, a lower mechanism movable between primary and secondary positions in the direction of the barrel extension to drive bullets into the barrel and a monoblock rifle mechanism having an upper mechanism extending over the barrel of the rifle. A primary lock slot is provided on the upper mechanism, and a secondary lock slot on the barrel. One end of a main arm is rotatably connected to the barrel. A button is connected to the main arm so that the user can move the main arm. When the button is pushed from the barrel towards the upper mechanism, if the rifle mechanism is retracted, it will snap into the primary lock slot. If the rifle mechanism is retracted, it includes a mechanism stopper with a lock lever that fits into the primary lock slot and prevents the rifle mechanism from moving.

A piercing mechanism for a pressure vessel having a recessed membrane includes an inner housing that receives the pressure vessel and controls longitudinal movement of the vessel. The inner housing is slidably received in an outer housing, which can constrain the inner housing to reciprocating longitudinal movement therein. A pin in the outer housing configured to selectably pierce the membrane extends longitudinally through the inner housing in alignment with the membrane when the pressure vessel is received in the inner housing. A biasing member in the outer housing biases the inner housing away from an interior surface of the outer housing so the pin does not contact the membrane when the pressure vessel is received in the inner housing. The inner housing is selectably slidable to compress the biasing member and cause the pin to pierce the membrane when the pressure vessel is received in the inner housing.

A device and method for charging an automatic or semi-automatic firearm, via a unique forward charging handle configuration. The present invention is illustrated and for use on the AR-15 rifle platform, but is equally applicable to various other caliber and configured firearms, with or without gas tubes. The forward charging handle slidably reciprocates about and along the frontal support or hand guard area (also referenced as the fore stock) in a pump action, allowing ejecting of spent, jammed or dud ammo from the chamber area, or initial chambering or charging the firearm while maintaining shooting position. The present invention is particularly suitable for use in competitive shooting, military applications, hunting, etc, allowing the user to charge, chamber, and/or unjam the firearm while maintaining firing posture, without the need for the user's hand leaving the front support.

A caseless cartridge including a projectile. A bullet is positioned on a leading end of the projectile and sized to exit a firearm through a barrel of the firearm. An ignition housing is positioned on a trailing end of the projectile opposite the leading end. An ignition source is positioned within the ignition housing. A hollow shaft extends between the bullet and the ignition housing and joins the bullet to the ignition housing. A plurality of ignition ports extend through a wall of the shaft and through the ignition housing. An interior of the shaft is fluidly coupled to an interior of the ignition housing. The ignition source is configured to ignite a propellant through the plurality of ignition ports in response to an activation of the firearm. When the firearm is activated, each component of the caseless cartridge is either consumed or discharged from the firearm through the barrel.

A blasting system which includes a blast site with a perimeter which surrounds the blast site, a plurality of spaced apart boreholes at the blast site, a plurality of detonator assemblies, each detonator assembly being positioned in a respective borehole, each detonator assembly including a respective receiver which is responsive to a magnetic signal transmitted from a control device and received by the receiver, a plurality of magnetic field strength meters (MFSMs) positioned at spaced apart locations on the perimeter, each MFSM including a respective unique identifier, each MFSM in response to a magnetic signal detected by the MFSM, producing a respective data signal which is dependent on the strength of the detected magnetic signal and which includes said unique identifier, and a communication arrangement for transmitting said data signals from said MFSMs to a data collection point.

An interlock system for explosive operations includes an array of magnet sensors configured to engage an array of magnets in a magnetic key. The key may be selectively positioned to activate select sensors while the other remains deactivated. Various sequences of activated and deactivated sensors correspond to various states of the interlock system. One or more switches of the interlock system are set according the state of the system. Some states set the switches to disable any electrical signals from passing to the explosives. Other states set the switches to enable select signals to pass to the explosive or other tools. Explosive operations are enabled only in a particular predetermined state.

The device may be a gun, and the device may encode messages to improve the security of the device. The device may obtain a first spreading code, encode, at a first electronic component, a first message according to the first spreading code to produce a first encoded message, transmit the first encoded message from the first electronic component to a second electronic component across a physical communication channel, decode, at the second electronic component, the first encoded message according to the first spreading code, and perform a first action in response to the decoding the first encoded message. The first action may include discharging electric charge from a capacitor bank, charging the capacitor bank, firing a projectile, arming the device, disarming the device, or transmitting data across an additional communication channel.

An integrated imaging and passive directional finding (DF) system for a guided munition or weapons platform includes an electro-optical infrared (EOIR) imager within a nosecone of the weapons platform and configured for imaging of a detected target. The passive DF system includes an array of long periodic array (LPA) antenna elements, each element disposed on a face of a tapered conical ground chassis having a polygonal cross section, the LPA antenna elements self-shielded from the EOIR imager and other electronic components by the ground chassis. Each LPA antenna element scans for signals of interest (SoI) within the ultra-wide band (UWB) frequency range. Geolocation or passive direction finding (DF) based on detected signals of interest may be performed to guide the weapons platform into imaging range of one or more targets of interest, where EOIR imaging may take over for target discrimination and aimpoint refinement.
