US12631435 - Unmanned apparatus for neutralizing explosive threats located above and below water

An explosive ordnance disposal (EOD) apparatus enables a human operator to deliver an EOD neutralization tool via an unmanned vehicle to a target attached to a ferrous or non-ferrous surface, position the tool to the target, fix the neutralization tool in place, and activate the neutralization tool, all remotely so that the human operator is not in danger. The unmanned vehicle disengages from the remainder of the EOD apparatus prior to neutralizing the target so that the unmanned vehicle is not damaged or destroyed. The EOD apparatus includes a flexible web interface that positions a tool holder ring containing the EOD neutralization tool onto the target before finally fixing the EOD neutralization tool into place against a ferrous or non-ferrous surface.

The invention shows a gas generator comprising a pressure chamber ( 22 ) filled with compressed gas which is sealed against an environment of the gas generator ( 10 ) by a membrane ( 16 ), a solid propellant ( 30 ) received in the pressure chamber ( 22 ), and an igniter unit ( 14 ) adjacent to the pressure chamber ( 22 ). The solid propellant ( 30 ) is surrounded by a cage-type open fuel holder ( 32 ) receiving the same which protrudes into the pressure chamber ( 22 ) and is directly adjacent to the igniter unit ( 14 ). Accordingly, the pressure chamber ( 22 ) is free from solid propellant outside the fuel holder ( 32 ).

An underwater firearm is disclosed. The underwater firearm includes a barrel for receiving an ammunition. A slip mechanism is utilized to removably secure the underwater firearm to an unmanned underwater vehicle. The slip mechanism includes a pillow block secured to the unmanned underwater vehicle, a shear ring situated within a barrel groove of the barrel, a collet wrapped around the shear ring, and a capture nut, along with the collet, for confining the shear ring within the barrel groove in order to secure the barrel in order to enable accurate aiming before firing.

The surround shield protects the occupant or occupants of the host vehicle from wind or debris and is made of a ballistic material that resists bullets, projectiles, and the like. Optionally, a rear platform mounted to the vehicle provides for the protected advance of multiple people. The surround shield includes hinged door panels that may be opened to allow for lateral protection of responders whether the vehicle is stopped or in motion.

The main body includes an elongated general storage compartment and a plurality of firearm magazine slots. Each of the firearm magazine slots are oriented vertically for individually receiving and positioning a firearm magazine vertically within the device. Each firearm magazine slot includes a foam lining along the interior surface for engaging different sized firearm magazines within each slot. In some versions the main is manufactured to fit a specific vehicle and includes a shape and size that is complementary to the shape and size of the vehicles door pocket. In other embodiments, the main body is manufactured to fit a variety of different vehicles and includes a mounting lip along the front surface and an adhesive strip along the bottom surface and/or other surfaces.
