US12631416 - Suppression systems for firearms

The patent describes a firearm suppression system featuring a barrel with two portions of differing wall thicknesses and an integrally mounted suppressor. The suppressor includes a cylindrical body and baffles that can translate within the body to enhance sound reduction during firearm discharge.
Claim 1
1 . A suppression system for a firearm, comprising: a barrel having a first portion and a second portion, wherein: the first portion and the second portion define a bore configured to receive a projectile upon discharge of the firearm; and a wall thickness of the second portion of the barrel is less than a wall thickness of the first portion of the barrel; and a suppressor comprising: a first mount configured to be connected to a first end of the second portion of the barrel; a second mount configured to be connected to a second end of the second portion of the barrel; a cylindrical outer body connected to the second mount; and a first baffle and a second baffle disposed within the outer body and defining an expansion chamber in fluid communication with the bore, wherein the first and second baffles are coupled to the outer body and the second mount so that the first and second baffles are configured to translate in relation to the outer body, and the translation of the first and second baffles in relation to the outer body urges the first mount toward the second mount. a barrel having a first portion and a second portion, wherein: the first portion and the second portion define a bore configured to receive a projectile upon discharge of the firearm; and a wall thickness of the second portion of the barrel is less than a wall thickness of the first portion of the barrel; and a suppressor comprising: a first mount configured to be connected to a first end of the second portion of the barrel; a second mount configured to be connected to a second end of the second portion of the barrel; a cylindrical outer body connected to the second mount; and a first baffle and a second baffle disposed within the outer body and defining an expansion chamber in fluid communication with the bore, wherein the first and second baffles are coupled to the outer body and the second mount so that the first and second baffles are configured to translate in relation to the outer body, and the translation of the first and second baffles in relation to the outer body urges the first mount toward the second mount. a first mount configured to be connected to a first end of the second portion of the barrel; a second mount configured to be connected to a second end of the second portion of the barrel; a cylindrical outer body connected to the second mount; and a first baffle and a second baffle disposed within the outer body and defining an expansion chamber in fluid communication with the bore, wherein the first and second baffles are coupled to the outer body and the second mount so that the first and second baffles are configured to translate in relation to the outer body, and the translation of the first and second baffles in relation to the outer body urges the first mount toward the second mount.
