US12631417 - Firearm accessory mounts

The patent describes a firearm accessory mounting device featuring a collar and a nut that work together to securely attach accessories by utilizing a cam track and follower mechanism. When the nut is rotated to a specific torque threshold, it causes the follower to compress and stabilize the attachment of the accessory to the firearm.
Claim 1
1 . A firearm accessory mounting device, comprising: a collar extending along an axis and defining an exit side opposite a barrel side, the collar defining a first end at the barrel side thereof, an insert formed at the first end of the collar; a nut coupled to the collar at the barrel side of the collar, the nut defining a nut barrel side and a nut exit side, an inner surface of the nut defining a nut bore extending through the nut from the nut barrel side to the nut exit side, the nut defining an annular flange extending radially inward relative to the axis at the nut barrel side, the annular flange defining a transverse surface extending radially inward relative to the axis proximate the nut barrel side and facing the nut exit side, the nut defining a cam track formed in the transverse surface; and a follower at least partially received within the insert of the collar and engaging the cam track of the nut; wherein the first end of the collar is arranged within the nut bore and confronts the inner transverse surface of the nut; and wherein the cam track extends only partially through the annular flange. a collar extending along an axis and defining an exit side opposite a barrel side, the collar defining a first end at the barrel side thereof, an insert formed at the first end of the collar; a nut coupled to the collar at the barrel side of the collar, the nut defining a nut barrel side and a nut exit side, an inner surface of the nut defining a nut bore extending through the nut from the nut barrel side to the nut exit side, the nut defining an annular flange extending radially inward relative to the axis at the nut barrel side, the annular flange defining a transverse surface extending radially inward relative to the axis proximate the nut barrel side and facing the nut exit side, the nut defining a cam track formed in the transverse surface; and a follower at least partially received within the insert of the collar and engaging the cam track of the nut; wherein the first end of the collar is arranged within the nut bore and confronts the inner transverse surface of the nut; and wherein the cam track extends only partially through the annular flange.
