A connector assembly for connecting a firearm accessory to a muzzle device for a firearm is disclosed. The connector assembly comprises a first connector part and a second connector part engaged to the first connector part by a threaded engagement. The first connector part presents a first engagement surface. At least two clamp members are configured to receive the muzzle device therebetween, the clamp members coupled to the second connector part to be axially and rotationally retained thereto. Each of the clamp members presents a second engagement surface to engage the first engagement surface. Rotation of the first connector part relative to the second connector part in a first direction moves the first connector part from a first relative axial position to a second relative axial position to engage the first engagement surface against the second engagement surfaces, to drive the clamp members radially inwards against the muzzle device in an inward radial position, to thereby clamp the muzzle device and connect the firearm accessory to the firearm.

The ledge surfaces have a plurality of different regions along their lengths with the different regions having different overlaps. The ledge surfaces may have a greater overlap at end portions, and a lesser overlap amount at an intermediate portion, with the intermediate position being proximate the magazine well, and preferably a portion of at least one of the frame rail ends remains engaged with at least one of the frame rails during motions between battery and recoil positions.

A modular two-piece bolt system for firearms with blowback actions provides a rear bolt piece which detachably couples to plural different front bolt pieces each of different mass. The front bolt pieces have a similar configuration and common coupling interface which forms an interlocked relationship with a complementary configured coupling interface on the rear bolt piece to prevent axial separation of the pieces when the action of the firearm is cycled. The system allows various front bolt pieces to be selected and used interchangeably with the rear bolt piece so that a front bolt piece of proper mass can be matched to the energy of ammunition to be fired. The front and rear bolt pieces when coupled define a continuous extended longitudinal passage which receives the rear breech end portion of the firearm barrel therethrough to reduce the projected length of the barrel.

A linear encoder may be used to accurately determine a number of cartridges within a magazine. Further, using a set of magnetic sensors within a buffer tube of a firearm, it is possible to determine whether a cartridge is loaded within a chamber of the weapon and/or whether the firearm is jammed. The determination of cartridges within the magazine in conjunction with the determination of whether a cartridge is in a chamber of a firearm can give a user an accurate ammunition count. Further, the use of the linear encoder makes it possible to accurately determine the cartridge count when different cartridges are loaded into the magazine or when the magazine degrades in quality over time. Moreover, the ability for magazines to communicate with a firearm enables a user to determine a total available ammunition to the user in a single display without individually checking each magazine.

An air launch apparatus includes a frame, a grip, and a plurality of sidewalls and also includes a hollow substantially cylindrical barrel having a central longitudinal axis. The air launch apparatus further includes a piston disposed substantially concentric with the barrel. The piston is configured to move longitudinally along the outer surface of the barrel in directions parallel to the longitudinal axis. The air launch apparatus also includes a nut that is configured to engage the piston as a front block carrying the nut is drawn rearward toward a user, and to hold the piston stationary relative to the front block while so engaged. A plunger, fixedly connected to the piston, is configured to move with the piston. Movement of the piston and plunger, forward during cocking draws air into a volume within an air chamber of the air launch apparatus. The plunger, together with the piston, is driven rearward (toward the user) during firing of the air launch apparatus.

The gun may include a sensor, such as a laser proximity sensor, a capacitive proximity sensor, a load cell, an accelerometer, or a biometric sensor, and the gun may determine whether a user is holding the gun based on an output generated by the sensor. A processor housed in the gun may identify activation of a proximity sensor, determine that a user is holding the gun based on the activation of the proximity sensor, and perform an action in response to determining that the user is holding the gun. The action performed by the processor may include performing a boot procedure, performing a health check procedure, visually indicating state information about the gun, audibly indicating state information about the gun, or tactilely indicating state information about the gun.

A method of operating a back-up aiming system for an artillery device having at least one back-up aiming drive unit and an artillery unit for a vehicle. The back-up aiming system is operated at least in the event of a failure of a main aiming system of the artillery device. An activation signal is provided to an interface to a back-up aiming electronics unit, the activation signal being configured to activate the back-up aiming system. A setpoint signal is read via an interface to a detection device, wherein an alignment signal with a setpoint speed and/or a setpoint torque with respect to a movement of the artillery device is calculated and set from the setpoint signal of the at least one back-up aiming drive unit. At least one alignment signal is outputted for aligning the at least one back-up aiming drive unit after the step of reading.

A bulletproof shielding devices and methods for protecting a user from high velocity projectiles such as bullets includes a panel having a front side and a back side. The front side is a raw carbon fiber material bonded with an epoxy resin. The back side is an extended chain polyethylene fiber material blended with the raw carbon fiber material. A bullet resistant material is positioned between the front side and the back side. The bullet resistant material includes at least four layers of an ultra-high-molecular-weight-polyethylene material. The extended chain polyethylene fiber material entangles a projectile being shot at the front side, reducing a force of an impact of the projectile and facilitating the bullet resistant material in stopping the projectile. The raw carbon fiber material exerts a force toward the projectile thereby inhibiting the progression of the projectile. The panel has a weight between 4.5 pounds and 7.5 pounds.

The invention is a training device marker for target shooting. The device contains a semi-rigid support having a forward side, a back side and a flexible material cover stretched over the forward side of the semi-rigid support. The forward side has a first marking and the back side has an affixing means for attaching the semi-rigid support to an existing target. The flexible material cover has a second marking such that when the flexible material is penetrated by a projectile, the flexible material tears away from the semi-rigid support exposing the first marking. The partial or complete removal of the flexible material cover alerts the shooter that the marker has been hit. This has the advantage of being able to be observed at a distance, and with multiple training device markers affixed on a target, the user does not have to stop and confirm a hit after each shot.

A device is provided for inhibiting pitch and yaw within a barrel bore of a gun-launched projectile having a nose and a boattail. The device includes an endcap, a cruciform and a plug. The endcap attaches to the boattail. The endcap includes a center cavity. The cruciform includes a central ring that engages around the endcap. The cruciform further includes a plurality of radial spokes. Each spoke extends from the ring and ends in a flange that engages the bore. The plug inserts into the ring and the cavity. After the projectile launches from the bore, the plug sheers away from the endcap, thereby causing the cruciform to separate from the endcap. Preferably, the endcap, cruciform and plug are composed of aluminum alloy.

The system includes a dual-pump assembly in fluid communication with respective sources of a first gel precursor fluid and a second gel precursor fluid; a pair of hoses associated with a means to vary an effective length of said hoses; a dosing head having a first inlet and a second inlet, said inlets arranged in respective fluid communication via said hoses with the dual pump assembly to receive the first and second gel precursor fluids, the dosing head being configured to receive and mix the first and second gel precursor fluids to produce the gel stemming material and to dispense the gel stemming material via an outlet. In use, the effective length of the hoses may be varied to position the dosing head and dispense the gel stemming material in the blast hole.

A new kind of active protection system (APS) called SNAP (scalable networked active protection) will be a light and affordable means of protecting vehicles and infrastructure against rockets and missiles. The APS system is built from modules, each of which is itself a stand-alone APS. Since each unit is a stand-alone APS, the only single points of failure are the User Interface (UI) in the vehicle cab and the Data/Power Router (DPR). SNAP instead takes advantage of each module protecting a relatively small area to employ vastly lower cost components. In addition, each SNAP module is disposable in that when its countermunition is initiated, the entire module is consumed and subsequently replaced in the field. This approach allows the system to be very compact and lightweight.

The ground and/or electrode deflector focuses a plasma blast through openings in the probe, directing the blast force away from the ends of the probe, wherein at least a portion of the high voltage electrode and the ground electrode are submerged in the blast media. The blasting media comprises water alone or in combination with other materials. The robust blast probe permits the aiming of the blast outside of the probe.

Flexure hinges provide relative motion between two stiff members by the elastic deformation of an arbitrarily shaped flexible connector often implemented in metallic and composite materials. The flexure hinges are formed by flexure links connecting two stiff members. The flexure links connect various parts of the trigger assembly, such as a trigger component, including a shoe, plate, or safety, to a housing of the firearm. A method of creating the mechanism provides a trigger component, a housing, and connects the two parts by a flexure link with a flexure hinge.

A firearm suppressor with a simple, light, easy-to-manufacture and easy-to clean is provided. In the device and solution provided, the propellant gas is not stopped inside the suppressor but directed to flow in a controlled manner through the suppressor and out of the suppressor. This significantly reduces the heating of the suppressor, the fouling of the firearm by propellant gases and gunpowder firing residues. Moreover, the solution reduces contact of the propellant gases with the shooter's face.

A mount assembly for attaching a firearm accessory to a muzzle of a firearm that promotes a more secure connection. The mounting assembly includes a front collar and a rear collar that are operable to clamp the mount assembly onto the muzzle. A detent ring mounted on the front collar yieldably biased by a spring against the rear collar to resist relative rotation of the front and rear collars. The mounting assembly is constructed so that the spring force applied by the spring does not continually increase as the front and rear collars move to clamp onto the muzzle. Detent springs used to yieldably hold the front and rear collars against relative rotation can be weaker than the main spring, which further reduces unwanted forces working against clamping of the mount assembly onto the muzzle. The mount assembly is also constructed to inhibit carbon lock.

The bolt carrier also features side indents cut out of both sides of the base block which further reduce weight. An open frame revolver may have an upper frame and lower frame pivotally connected together, an opening located in between the upper frame and the lower frame. A spring assembly may be located in the lower frame and a trigger assembly located in the lower frame, wherein the trigger assembly is connected to the spring assembly. A tension axle located in the lower frame, wherein the tension axle on one end connected to the trigger assembly and spring assembly and on the other end has a lock. A hammer axle may be located inside a drum, wherein the drum could be pivotally supported by hammer axel and hammer axle may have a lock on one end. A mounting assembly enabled to adhere a sighting scope to a rifle is provided including a mounting rail attached to an upper edge platform of a rail mount and an extension bar attached at a lower edge of the rail mount at one end. A first ring clamp and a second ring clamp spaced apart and attached at a second end of the extension bar is provided, distal to the one end, and the first and second ring clamps are enabled to be secured to the rifle via tightening bolts enabling secure positioning of a sighting scope on the rifle without permanently modifying or scaring the rifle.

A kinematic mount assembly is provided. The kinematic mount assembly includes a fixed mount and a pivot mount. The fixed mount and pivot mount together have a plurality of protrusions and recesses to guide the mounts into a repeatable position when rotating from an opened to a closed position. The protrusions may be semispherical balls and the recesses may be gothic-arch shaped. The pivot mount and fixed mount may be coupled by a pivot pin and rotate about the pivot pin. The pivot mount may contain holes configured to mount an accessory. A latch assembly may hold the fixed mount and pivot mount closed until the latch is actuated, usually by a switch, to allow the system to open.

A protective mantel and accessory hub includes a primary yoke configured to be worn underneath an armor carrier. Sliding attachment points removably connect the armor carrier to the upper protector to allow for mobility and articulation. Accessories such as a throat guard and deltoid guards are removably attached to the mantel. Shoulder suspension members are inserted into the primary yoke to support and distribute the weight of the armor carrier. The sidewall defines an interior space around the tail. A flowable medium is received in the interior space around the tail. The flowable medium is configured to deform the sidewall upon impact of the nose with a target such that a portion of the sidewall contacts the target around the nose. Impact of the nose with the target causes the flowable medium to move forward in the interior space around the tail and expand the sidewall radially outward and forward such that the sidewall contacts the target around the nose.
